The Christ The King History
The story of Christ the King Community Church is ultimately a story of God's faithfulness and it's still being written.
In 2010, God called Scott and Jen Kirschner to return to Port Orange with a vision to plant a church where people could encounter Jesus Christ, grow in faith, and experience an authentic Christian community. Trusting God's leading, they answered His call and began this labor of love.
What started as a small gathering of people soon became a growing church family. Before officially launching in July 2010, Scott and Jen were invited to become part of the Christ the King Network, based in the Pacific Northwest. That same summer, Scott began coaching cross country at Spruce Creek High School, building meaningful relationships throughout the community. For the next decade, Christ the King met each Sunday at Cypress Creek Elementary School, where God continued to grow and strengthen the church.
In December 2019, our church family purchased 7.5 acres on Spruce Creek Road—a tangible reminder of God's provision and faithfulness. As the property was cleared in early 2020, we gathered for our first outdoor worship service beneath the Florida sky in March of that year. Worshiping in God's creation became a defining part of our story and welcomed many people into our church family.
In 2021, Christ the King became an independent church, continuing the mission God had entrusted to us. Through the extraordinary generosity and faithfulness of our congregation, our property was paid in full by 2023, allowing us to move forward debt-free. In 2024, we secured financing for our first permanent building and broke ground that summer. We look forward to opening its doors as a place where generations will gather to worship, grow, and share the hope of Jesus Christ.
While we are grateful for every milestone along the way, we know the church has never been defined by a building. The Church is God's people—ordinary people whose lives have been transformed by the extraordinary grace of Jesus Christ. Together, we are called to worship Him, love one another, and make disciples.
As we look to the future, our prayer remains the same as it was in the beginning: that Christ the King would be a place where people encounter Jesus, find authentic community, and grow as lifelong followers of Him.

Our mission is to create an authentic Christ-centered community that reaches people with the love, grace, and forgiveness of Jesus Christ, so they may experience the joy of salvation and the lifelong journey of following Him.
Who We Are
We are a Christ-centered church that values simplicity.
At Christ the King, we are a Christ-centered church that values simplicity. We strive to keep our focus where Jesus kept His—loving God with all our heart and loving our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:37–40).
In our efforts to keep it simple, we have chosen to focus on the areas that are life-changing and life-giving. Our convictions are rooted in Scripture and centered on Jesus Christ. We seek to be faithful to God's Word while showing grace and humility toward one another in matters that are not essential to the gospel.
Because Jesus is our foundation, Christ the King has become a church home for people from many Christian traditions and backgrounds. Our desire is simple: to know Jesus, become more like Him, and help others do the same.
What We Believe
At Christ the King, we believe the good news of the gospel is for everyone. No matter your story, your questions, your past, or your present circumstances, God invites you into a relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. God is real and He has taken steps to reveal Himself to us through His Word.

Baptism
A public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ.
Baptism is a public declaration of your faith in Jesus Christ. It doesn't make you a follower of Jesus; rather, it is the outward expression of the inward transformation that has already taken place through faith in Him. Salvation comes by God's grace through faith in Christ alone—not through baptism (Ephesians 2:8–9).
Through baptism, we identify with Jesus in His death, burial, and resurrection (Romans 6:3–4), joyfully proclaiming our commitment to follow Him. It is an act of obedience to Christ and an important next step for every believer after placing their faith in Him.
At Christ the King, we practice believer's baptism by immersion because it beautifully symbolizes both the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the new life we have in Him. As we are lowered beneath the water and raised again, we celebrate the new life Christ has given us and our desire to walk faithfully with Him.
